To enroll in a PADI Scuba Diver course (or Junior Scuba Diver course), you must be at least 10 years old. You need to be able to swim and to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.
The PADI Scuba Diver course contains the first half of the PADI Open Water Diver course. If you’re short on time but really want to become a diver, the PADI Scuba Diver rating might be right for you particularly if you expect to go scuba diving primarily with a dive guide. It takes only two days, first day on land with pool and theory, the second day already on board with two open water dives. Start your adventure now!
Basic scuba gear, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device and a tank. The equipment you wear varies, depending on the water temperature and time of the year. Your PADI Instructor will explain the equipment you need and may suggest additional educational materials, such as the required logbook.
You can start learning with PADI’s home-study materials – Open Water Diver TouchTM (a tablet app), the digital lite pack or the Open Water Diver Manual and Open Water Diver Video (a book and DVD package). Your PADI Instructor will schedule time with you to check your progress and make sure you understand important scuba diving information.
